The Rockies ended the season with the worst record in the MLB, and the only team in the MLB to lose 100+ games.
But one of their shining stars was TJ Rumfield.
TJ Rumfield was the first Rookie in 100 years to lead the National League in on-base percentage!

Which is a pretty great achievement.
But, he also accomplished a few other things:
- He was the only player on the Rockies to have a batting average of .300 or higher
- He led the Rockies with 164 hits
- He led the Rockies with 72 walks
- Had the 2nd most doubles on the Rockies with 30
- Had the 3rd most RBIs on the Rockies with 73
- He only struck out 86 times (Hunter Goodman led the team with 175 strikeouts)
- He played 155 games, which was also the most games played by any Rockies’ player this year
Pretty good for just his Rookie year. And I’m excited to see what he does next year.
And hopefully, the Rockies are focusing on pitching this off-season so we can see a lot more wins next season.
And now, let’s jump into the Rockies news from this past week.
Monforts Are Not Selling the Rockies
Last month, a lot of fans (and myself) were excited when we heard the Penner Sports Group were expecting to be the majority owners of the Rockies after the MLB bargaining agreement was finalized.
Turns out, that’s not the case.
During the season-ending press conference on Tuesday, Walker Monfort told reporters that there is no plan to sell the team.
There wasn’t really an explanation as to why, other than Walker Monfort saying that the Penner Sports Group are partners.
So for now, the Penner Sports Group will remain minority owners with a 40% ownership stake in the Rockies.
Carlos González Elected to the Colorado Sports Hall of Fame

You might remember Carlos González was added to the Hall of Fame ballot 2 years ago, but he ended up getting removed from the ballot completely because he got less than the 5% of votes needed to keep him on the ballot.
But yesterday, we learned that Carlos González will be headed to the Colorado Sports Hall of Fame!
The Colorado Sports Hall of Fame was created in 1964, and it honors athletes, coaches, and contributors who have had major achievements in Colorado.
Carlos González will be headed to the Colorado Sports Hall of Fame with 5 other people:
- Tom Nalen (Broncos)
- Jenny Barringer Simpson (Olympic medalist and World champion)
- Dave Hill (PGA champion)
- Jim Saccomano (Broncos’ public relations)
- Steve Bosley (Bolder Boulder administrator)
They will be formally inducted on April 15, 2027.
Which means we should see CarGo in the Colorado Sports Hall of Fame Musuem sometime in 2027.
8 Rockies Players Are Playing in the Arizona Fall League
In Arizona, baseball is a year-round sport. And the Arizona Fall League had its opening day on Saturday.
The Arizona Fall League is made up of six teams. And games go all the way through November 14th.
The teams are filled by each MLB team sending seven to eight of their prospects to participate.
The Rockies have 8 prospects playing on the Salt River Rafters this year:
- Sean Sullivan (LHP)
- Konner Eaton (LHP)
- Stu Flesland III (LHP)
- Hunter Mann (RHP)
- Fidel Ulloa (RHP)
- Jack O’Dowd (C)
- Andy Perez (SS / 3B)
- Jared Thomas (OF)
Jared Thomas is probably the most recognized name from this list. He’s currently the Rockies’ #10 prospect, and he’s been playing on the Rockies’ Double-A team, the Hartford Yard Goats.
So far, the Salt River Rafters are 4-1 this season.

If anyone is interested in watching any of the games, they stream these games for free on the main page of the Arizona Fall League website.
Prospect Spotlight: Ethan Holliday (Rockies #1 Prospect)
Get to know the Rockies players who are just a step away from MLB stardom! Each week, we’ll cover a top prospect, so you’ll know who to watch as they make their way to the big leagues.

Current Team: Fresno Grizzlies (Single-A Affiliate)
Age: 19
Position: Shortstop
Bats: Left-handed
Throws: Right-handed
Estimated MLB Debut: 2029
Ethan Holliday was the Rockies’ first-round draft pick from the 2025 draft and instantly became the Rockies’ #1 overall prospect.
Since being drafted, Ethan Holliday has played in just 51 games.
Unfortunately, Ethan Holliday had season-ending surgery on June 11th with a left foot stress fracture.
He’s still recovering, but he was invited to an instructional program in Arizona. Which sounds like a program where he’ll spend time studying baseball with coaches and other players.
There’s still no timetable on when he’s set to return, but the initial estimates were that he could return sometime this year.
During his 51 games in Single-A, he’s batting .254 with 11 home runs, 43 runs, 38 RBIs, and 1 stolen base.
Hopefully we see him play again soon!
That wraps up this week’s newsletter! Hope everyone has a great week!
