Rockies Rockpile Tickets: A Quick Overview

There’s nothing quite like a baseball game at Coors Field, but when you’re sitting in the Rockpile, you get a unique experience. If you’ve never been to Coors Field you’re probably wondering, what are the Rockies Rockpile tickets?

At Coors Field, the Rockies Rockpile tickets are the bleacher seats located in deep centerfield. Rockpile seats have the furthest view of the field and are usually the cheapest tickets in the stadium.

The good news for fans is that these Rockpile tickets will get you in the door so you can walk around the entire stadium. And once upon a time I would purchase Rockpile tickets just so I could go hang out at the Rooftop in right field. It’s easily the cheapest way to enjoy a game!

The Rockpile Seats Are Bleachers

If you’re going to sit in the Rockpile, just remember that these are only bleacher seats.

That means these seats are those aluminum seats with no backrest.

They’re not the most comfortable seats in the world, but at least they are one of the cheapest seats you can get for any major league baseball game.

How is the View From the Rockpile Seats?

Fun fact! The very last row of Rockpile seats are about 600 feet away from home plate, making them the furthest seats from home plate in any MLB stadium.

I also put together this quick, 15-second video for anyone who wants a complete view of Coors Field from the last row of the Rockpile.

Rockpile Tickets Allow Fans to Walk Around the Stadium

Fans who purchase Rockpile tickets will have access to the entire concourse.

This is especially useful for those of you who are only visiting Coors Field and want to take in the entire stadium. Rockpile tickets are easily the cheapest way to visit Coors Field and walk around the entire stadium.

In fact, a lot of fans prefer to hang out at the Rooftop deck, above right field. So they’ll purchase Rockpile tickets, never sit in the Rockpile, and just go hang out at the Rooftop all game.

My friends and I used to do this all the time.

Rockpile Tickets Are Located in the 400s Section

The Rockpile seats at Coors Field

Rockpile tickets are located in sections 401, 402, and 403. All of these sections are located in centerfield.

These three sections are the furthest away from the field and are basically on an elevated island by themselves.

There’s a reason these are the cheapest seats in the stadium!

There’s No Shade in the Rockpile

If you’re going to a day game, just remember there is absolutely no shade in the Rockpile. Plan to sit on aluminum bleachers in the hot sun all game long.

Games at Coors Field can get pretty hot, especially day games in the middle of summer. Just make sure you plan ahead for no shade.

At least bring sunscreen.

How to Buy Rockpile Tickets

The best place to purchase Rockpile tickets is at the ticket office at Coors Field. These can be purchased at Gate A (right field) and the ticket windows open up two hours before the game.

This is where you’ll get the best deal on Rockpile tickets.

The downside is that these tickets are first-come first-served. So if they sell out then you’re out of luck for the Rockpile and you’ll have to purchase other seats.

The Rockies also sell a limited number of Rockpile seats in advance, but you’ll have to call to see if they’re available.

How Much Are Rockpile Seats?

Rockpile seats are generally $1 for kids 12 and under, $1 for adults 55 and over, and $4 for everyone else.

These prices can change depending on who the Rockies are playing, but those are the prices for most games.

These are also the prices you’ll pay at the ticket window, prior to the game. If you’re trying to purchase tickets online then chances are they’ll be more expensive.

Probably not much more expensive though. I’ve seen Rockpile tickets sell online for $12 a ticket. But that might be worth it if you don’t want to worry about a line at the ticket counter.

Fans Won’t Be Catching Home Runs In Rockpile Seats

If you were planning on catching a home run, think again.

The Rockpile is located way above centerfield and way out of range of any home run balls.

The top of the Rockpile is 600 feet from home plate. That makes Rockpile seats the furthest seats from home plate in any MLB stadium.

I bet that also means the front of the Rockpile is at least 500 feet away from home plate…probably more.

I’ve also never seen anyone hit it to this section during batting practice. Chances are, no one in this section is catching a home run.

Are Rockpile Tickets Worth It?

While I think Rockpile tickets are worth it, I also think it depends on why you’re going to Coors Field. So I put together a short list of reasons why Rockpile tickets are worth it and why they’re not.

Rockpile tickets are worth it if:

  • You want to get into Coors Field for as cheap as possible
  • You’re visiting Coors Field and plan on walking around the stadium during the game
  • You’re planning on heading to another section of the ballpark for the game (like the Rooftop area)
  • You’re going to the game to socialize

Rockpile tickets are not worth it if:

  • You want to pay attention to the game
  • You don’t want to be in the sun all game

The view from the Rockpile is not horrendous, but the seats are pretty far away. So if you’re going because you want to see baseball, spending a couple of extra bucks for closer seats is definitely worth it. But hey…cheap tickets!
