Happy Friday!
I decided to run a giveaway and I wanted to share it with everyone.
I’m hosting a 1993 Rockies’ Inaugural Prize Pack raffle where one winner will receive these 4 prizes:
- 1993 Colorado Rockies Team Autographed 16×20 Photo
- Colorado Rockies 1993 Inaugural Season Complete Year Scrapbook Magazine
- Colorado Rockies MLB Inaugural Season Ticket Sheet
- Colorado Rockies 1993 Collectors Series Fitted 7 3/8 Hat

The raffle is free to enter and anyone can sign up here – https://kingsumo.com/g/1xqy49m/win-a-1993-colorado-rockies-inaugural-prize-pack
I worked with two businesses to get this raffle set up.
The raffle’s grand prize came from a local business called Denver Autographs, which specializes in sports memorabilia.
And the second-place prize comes from Bill’s Sports Collectibles, which is also a local business that specializes in sports memorabilia. They were nice enough to offer multiple 10% off coupons for second place.
I’m using King Sumo to run this giveaway, so please head to that link if you’d like to enter.
King Sumo will also give you your own referral link to the giveaway, which will earn you additional entries for each person who signs up with your referral link.
So for full transparency, here are all the benefits of this raffle:
- Denver Autographs gets business exposure
- Bill’s Sports Collectibles gets business exposure
- The Rockpile News newsletter gets more subscribers
- You get a free chance of winning some cool prizes from the Rockies’ inaugural season or a 10% coupon to Bill’s Sports Collectibles
Sounded like a win-win to me and I’m excited to see who wins!
But that’s it for my Rockies’ raffle talk.
Let’s jump into all the Rockies news from this past week.
TJ Rumfield Nominated for Gold Glove

The Gold Glove Awards are given to the best defensive players each year.
And the Gold Glove finalists have been revealed.
TJ Rumfield is on that list!
Each year, three finalists are selected for each position in each division.
And here are the three Gold Glove finalists for First Base for the National League:
- Ty France (Padres)
- Matt Olson (Braves)
- TJ Rumfield (Rockies)
Unfortunately, fans don’t vote for this award.
Instead, the votes are cast by the managers of each team, plus an additional 6 coaches from each team.
Those votes account for 75% of the total selection. The other 25% of the total selection comes from the SABR Defensive Index.
The winners of the Gold Glove Awards will be announced on November 1st!
Rockies Fire Alon Leichman as Pitching Coach
Alon Leichman was signed as the Rockies’ head pitching coach back in December.
It’s been less than 12 months, and the Rockies have decided to part ways with Alon Leichman.
The Rockies had some of the worst pitching numbers in the MLB last season, so this move probably won’t come as a surprise to a lot of Rockies fans.
Here are some of the Rockies’ pitching highlights from 2026:
- Worst ERA in the MLB at 5.59
- Gave up the most hits in the MLB with 1,635 hits
- Had the least amount of strikeouts in the MLB with 1,113
- Had the worst WHIP in the MLB with 1.52
- Opposing teams had a batting average of .288 against the Rockies, which was also the worst in the MLB
So now, we’ll wait and see who the Rockies hire as their next pitching coach.
Banana Ball Coming to Denver 5/29 & 5/30
Banana Ball is coming back to Denver!
The Savannah Bananas won’t be here, but other teams from the Banana Ball league will be here.
On May 29th and May 30th, the Loco Beach Coconuts will be playing against the Party Animals at Coors Field. Both games are scheduled for 7:30pm.
I’ve only been to the games where the Savannah Bananas were playing, but I’ve seen highlights from other Banana Ball league games. And the game is exactly the same.
While it’s not the Savannah Bananas, it should still be a fun time!
And fans need to sign up for the lottery if they want a chance to buy tickets.
Here’s a link to their lottery sign-up page for anyone interested in going.
The signup for the lottery ends at midnight on October 31st.
Prospect Spotlight: Roldy Brito (Rockies #2 Prospect)
Get to know the Rockies players who are just a step away from MLB stardom! Each week, we’ll cover a top prospect, so you’ll know who to watch as they make their way to the big leagues.

Current Team: Spokane Indians (High-A Affiliate)
Age: 19
Position: Centerfield & Second Base
Bats: Switch Hitter
Throws: Right-handed
Estimated MLB Debut: 2028
Roldy Brito was signed by the Rockies in January of 2024 during the International Signing Period.
And there’s been a lot of hype around Roldy’s offensive production.
So far in the Minors, he’s hitting .317 with 14 home runs and 100 stolen bases. And those stats span over the course of 255 games.
On July 17 of this year, Roldy was promoted from the Fresno Grizzlies (Rockies’ Single-A Affiliate Team) to the Spokane Indians (High-A Affiliate).
He’s hitting .261 with the Spokane Indians, but he’s played in 38 games so far. So it will be exciting to see what he does next season!
Here’s a quick highlight of Roldy Brito, where he had a 4-hit night with the Spokane Indians. And his last hit was a walk-off single.
Overall, Roldy Brito has shown he can play the game. He’s still working his way through the Minor Leagues, and he’s not expected to make his Major League debut until sometime in 2028.
But hopefully, we keep hearing positive things from this prospect!
That wraps up this week’s newsletter! Hope everyone has a great week!
