Happy Friday!
The MLB All-Star Game has wrapped up, with the American League shutting out the National League 4-0.
It was quite the pitching duel, too.
There were a total of 27 strikeouts that game – which is exactly half of the 54 outs that were recorded for the entire game. Pretty crazy!
And I don’t know about anyone else, but I was really hoping for another swing-off like we had last year – where the game ended in a tie and Kyle Schwarber went 3 for 3 in that home run derby and won MVP.
That was exciting, and the MLB needs to find a way to bring back that swing-off.
But anyway, time to get into all the Rockies news from this past week.
Rockies Won 1 Game This Past Week
The Rockies won just one game this past week, but because of the All-Star break, they only played three games since last Friday.
This now puts the Rockies at 39-59 for the season. They’re currently last place in the NL West, but they’re only the 3rd worst team in the MLB – which means they’ve improved a bit.

Rockies Selected 21 Players in the MLB Draft
The Rockies had the 10th overall pick in the MLB Draft this year.
Usually, they would have a better draft pick, but the MLB’s anti-tanking rules prevented them from drafting earlier than the 10th pick.
But, in this draft, the Rockies drafted 12 pitchers and 9 position players.
So far, none of the drafted players have signed a contract, which is common. But the Rockies have until Monday, July 27th at 5:00pm Eastern Time to sign their draft picks.
If anyone wants to follow along, Yahoo put together this list of the Rockies’ draft picks, their current signing status, and how much each player signs for.

Hunter Goodman’s All-Star Appearance
Hunter Goodman made his second All-Star appearance on Tuesday.
Hunter Goodman came into the game to catch in the top of the 7th inning and finished out the game behind the plate.
He also had one quick at-bat in the 8th inning, where he lined out to the shortstop.
Unfortunately, Hunter Goodman didn’t get invited to the Home Run Derby. Which I was hoping to see!
But who knows? Maybe we’ll see him in the Home Run Derby next year.
Jake McCarthy Hits a Leadoff Inside-The-Park Home Run (Again)
Jake McCarthy has been having a pretty good year. And he just made it a better year.
To leadoff Sunday’s game, Jake McCarthy hit an inside-the-park home run.

This was also Jake McCarthy’s second leadoff inside-the-park home run this year.
The last player to hit 2 leadoff inside-the-park home runs in a single season was Edd Roush in 1929.
Pretty cool stat!

Rockies 2027 Schedule is Released
The MLB schedules for 2027 have been released!
Well, tentatively released. The MLB’s collective bargaining agreement expires after this season and a labor dispute could impact the schedule.
But, here’s a link to the Rockies schedule on MLB’s website for anyone who wants to check out their full schedule.
Here’s a quick highlight of some of the Rockies games for 2027:
- Season starts with an away game against the Giants on 3/25
- Rockies’ home opener game is 4/1 against the Dodgers
- Cubs visit the Rockies June 18-20
- Yankees visit the Rockies July 26-28
- Independence Day Fireworks shows haven’t been officially announced, but the Blue Jays are in town July 2-4, so those 2 fireworks shows will probably be July 3rd and July 4th.
