Rockies Reveal Spring Training Roster

We’re now exactly two weeks away from baseball!

The first Rockies spring training game takes place on Friday, February 20th. And that will be one of the few Spring Training games that will be broadcast on Rockes TV.

We’re also less than a week away from pitchers and catchers reporting to spring training.

Pitchers and catchers have their first workout this Thursday, February 12th. Then, the rest of the team will be there for a full team workout on Tuesday, February 17th.

Feels like it’s been forever since the baseball season ended, and I’m looking forward to watching some baseball on TV again!

It was a fairly quiet week for news, but let’s dive into the Rockies’ latest updates.

Rockies Announce Their Spring Training Roster

Yesterday, the Rockies posted a picture of all the players who are joining them in Arizona for Spring Training.

There are 60 players on this list, so I’m not going to list out every single player.

But the list is their 40 man roster, plus 20 non-roster invites.

Here’s the photo the Rockies posted yesterday that shows all of those players.

Yanquiel Fernández is Headed to the Yankees

Last week, we knew Yanquiel Fernández was designated for assignment by the Rockies. That meant there was a 7-day window where the Rockes could trade him, send him to the minors, or place him on waivers.

Yanquiel Fernández ended up on waivers and was then picked up by the New York Yankees.

The Yankees could still assign Yanquiel Fernández to their minor league team, but for now, he’s no longer a Rockies player and is now part of the Yankees’ 40-man roster.

Rockies Signed Some Minor League Players

The Rockies signed five minor league players this past week.

Here’s a quick recap of who the Rockies signed:

  • Patrick Weigel – Right-handed relief pitcher who was assigned to the Albuquerque Isotopes
  • Kyle Fossum – Outfielder who was assigned to the ACL Rockies
  • Cam Hassert – Shortstop who was assigned to the ACL Rockies
  • Valente Bellozo – Right-handed starting pitcher who was assigned to the Albuquerque Isotopes
  • Kyle McCann – Catcher who was assigned to the Albuquerque Isotopes

And out of these free agents, Kyle McCann and Valente Bellozo were invited to Spring Training.

That means we’ll see both of them competing for a spot on the Rockies’ roster in this upcoming season!

Rockies Announce 2026 Theme Events

The Rockies host multiple themed events throughout the year, and they recently announced their schedule for the upcoming season.

Here’s a link to their Theme Events page if you want to check out all of their events this year. They have 20ish events listed for the upcoming season (although I didn’t do an exact count).

This year, they’ll have some of their popular events – like Bark in the Park, Star Wars Night, and Harry Potter Night.

Some of those ticket packages sell out early (especially Bark in the Park and Star Wars Night), so try to get those early if you want to participate.

And just for fun, I found this grainy photo I took a few years ago where they turned Charlie Blackmon into Chewbacca on Star Wars Night.
